Starbucks was a fun place for Dari to be. Free Wifi, chocolate chip muffins... She knew several things one could order that weren't on the menu. Chocolate cream, cotton candy, Oreo, candy cane... Her favorite was probably the cookie side of the spectrum, though. She'd always had a slight sweet tooth, even if she only enjoyed chocolate in small amounts. She remembered sitting on the couch as a child, eating cookie dough in the light of a Christmas tree. And by kid, she was probably thirteen. Three short years ago, she'd been a 'kid.' When did she stop being a kid? Was she still a kid? Would Starbucks ever add the Oreo frappe to the menu? Those were the tough questions. She wasn't sure she wanted the answers.
It really hadn't been so long ago. She'd been alone on that couch, like she usually was now. It wasn't that her mother didn't love her, she was just never home. Work, work, work. And whenever they were together, they argued. Their personalities just clashed. Maybe this Christmas she wouldn't be alone on the couch with her cookie dough, though. Just maybe someone would join her. Maybe the blue-haired guy, but probably not. He wouldn't stick around. All Darius could do was not chase him off.
"Damn, where did you live before here?" Her voice was the sweet kind that swearing didn't seem quite right in. Of course, Dari didn't hear her voice as it really was.
Just then, however, another vibrate sounded from her hoodie. A confused expression crossed her face as she pulled it out to check.

"Fucking shit." In that cotton candy voice. "... My mom is looking for me."
